"Dealers, auctioneers and collectors have long needed a comprehensive book like this to help recognise these rare Caughley pieces. How I wish I had such a book nearly half a century ago." - John Sandon

2025 marked the 250th anniversary of the Caughley Porcelain Manufactory.  To celebrate this, The Caughley Society is publishing a new book about the overglaze patterns used on its wares.  A companion volume to Caughley Blue & White Patterns, it is planned to be on general sale in August 2026.

The book has been written by Chris Brown, who has been researching the subject since 1990.  253 patterns and their borders are fully described and illustrated with 702 digital photographs of pieces in both private and museum collections, many of which have never been published before.

Each pattern occupies at least one page and is illustrated by one or more photographs.  A detailed description accompanies each, which includes a date range during which the pattern is believed to have been used, the pattern’s rarity, the marks that accompany the pattern, the shapes it was used on, which borders accompany it, and who the decorator was.  A commentary elaborates this information and draws attention to particular features.

With 416 pages, this hardback book with dust jacket has been produced to the highest professional standards and printed in full colour throughout.  With a foreword by John Sandon, the book is a comprehensive and invaluable source of information for auctioneers, ceramic historians, collectors, curators, dealers, and others interested in eighteenth-century porcelain.

The book will be published in a limited edition of 500 copies and will be on sale at £85.00 plus £11.46 P&P in the UK.  Please contact us for the cost of P&P elsewhere.

To order, please click on the PayPal link below.  We will acknowledge receipt of all orders.  The book will be sent to you as soon as it has been published.
